Where will I enrol my child? The most important question and decision you make for your most important priceless possession, your children.
Hello and Happy February everyone. We hope that you are all keeping healthy and staying safe during these unprecedented times.
It’s that time of year where hundreds of thousands of parents from all over the world are thinking about which school to enrol their children in? It’s enrolment time in many private schools all over the country!
We are happy to write this blog about Parents/Guardians and Private School choice. Perhaps one of the biggest decisions that you will have to make in your lifetime. And what an exciting decision it is.
Whenever we have prospective parents that reach out and want to learn more about MSK, we are delighted to answer any questions that they may have. It is always a pleasure to meet new interested families and a lot of times we are also meeting extended family and friends too that come out to support the families that are making their decision.
There are many private schools in this province providing an abundance of opportunity while offering a lot selection and choice. But how does a parent choose for their child? From Toddler through to Highschool the choice is never easy. But what makes choosing MSK easy for many prospective parents? It clearly starts from the first introduction. Either a private tour or attending an open house. Along with this it is our passion for what we do. With almost over two decades behind us, parents choose MSK because of the review and recommendations from other families and students that attended MSK and have done so over the last 20 years. Word of mouth has been key and has also proven very valuable.
For some parents, their deciding factor becomes tuition. But for many, it also narrows down to safety and security. In our opinions, you cannot put a price tag on these two factors. For others it may boil down to faith, school accreditation and specialty programs.
At MSK we take great pride in a variety of check marks off the top list of musts for families and we are proud of offering a safe, secure and scenic environment while doing so. Parents arrive and leave with peace of mind knowing that their children are being left in the care of a prestigious school that is away from the busyness of traffic, and commercial traffic. With many staff that have been with us since the beginning ranging in age and culture, it is a beautiful environment.
We also pride ourselves on referrals. We continue to ask our community of parents to send along and often distribute surveys to check to see how we are doing. Please read a couple of reviews below:
“We chose MSK because of the love that Principal Marzano-Kooner made us feel. From her warm greeting to her wealth or knowledge about MSK, we felt that it was the best decision that we could ever make for our 8 year old daughter. We have been parents of the MSK community for the past year, and we could not have imagined being at another school especially during this pandemic. What Principal Marzano-Kooner did was keep us informed from day 1, never missing a beat. We never wondered or worried what was going to happen and if our daughter was going to finish her academic year. The transition to Distance Learning was seamless and effortless and the care and commitment from all the staff has really shown. Thank you MSK. You deserve a GOLD medal.” (Thankful Grade 3 parents of MSK).
“We first enrolled our son to the MSK prestigious school back in 2018. We were met by the Principals and we were provided a tour from the Head of the Toddler Department. We drove in to the property with a list of questions, and were unsure of what to expect of the tour. Not only did the Head of Toddler answer all of our questions, but the Principals and Administrator also spent time answering more. We left that day only with other questions that we had called to ask the next day, and we were so happy and content to have received the time to again provide answers. Being our only child, we wanted to provide the best in overall education and care for him. We are thankful that he is still registered at MSK and graduating the Casa program this year. Thank you MSK. We look forward to him starting Grade 1 in September and can’t wait to see what’s in store.” (Best regards, Casa parents of MSK).
Located on over 15 acres of luscious greenery, MSK provides a private oasis to its students overlooking mature trees, a variety of different forest animals and the Humber River.
When prospective families come to MSK for the first time, we try to also learn about the goals and needs of the family to see if MSK would be a good fit. Some questions we always like to ask are: What do you know about MSK? What are your top three items that you are looking for in a private school? What do you know about the Montessori Method of Education? Tell us about your family’s beliefs about private education. We often enjoy allowing parents the necessary time to also share a little bit about them too.
Parents have been very impressed with how MSK has carried on with educating its students throughout this pandemic.
Parents will also have to choose what type of school they are considering. There are several types of Private Schools. Some offer faith based, Single Gendered, Montessori, traditional type teaching, Waldorf or Reggio Emilia.
MSK offers two streams of education, both Montessori and Ministry Methods.
We “lead human souls to what is best, and make what is best out of them.” Our curriculum follows each child helping to meet their unique needs. Attending school should be meaningful too and we ensure that we add that to each of our students educational plans. We plan for success, there is no room for failure.
We always like to ask prospective families to see their child 5 and 10 years down the road. What do they see? How can MSK help turn what they see into reality? By providing a solid foundation to help guide them there.
We often laugh when families ask us this question, “what are you doing there because my child never wants to come home. They cry and want me to keep them there until after school?”
It is Reenrollment time here at MSK and we are confident that the majority of our students will return. We also have registration for the next two years as our community is expanding and growing with new families joining. Our future plans include some really fantastic ideas that we are getting ready to share with our community soon. We are entering our 20 years of operation with a bang and can’t wait to share the news. But for now the news remains hush hush.
If you wish to book an appointment, contact the MSK School Administrator, Mrs. Mary Addante who will gladly schedule a tour for you and your family.
We look forward to meeting you and helping you with your decision and welcoming you to our school, your children’s home away from home.
